Minority Manufacturing Firm of the Year is presented to Fabpro Technologies.

Fabpro Technologies, founded in 2006, specializes in precision metal manufacturing, with a focus on contract manufacturing for industries such as aerospace, defense, and telecommunications. The company produces custom precision metal components for businesses that lack the necessary facilities or technical expertise, often re-shoring production to the U.S., contributing to the domestic economy.

As the only Black-owned precision manufacturing firm of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic and one of very few nationwide, Fabpro has achieved success in a capital-intensive industry traditionally dominated by large-scale legacy manufacturers. A key factor in this success is CEO Antoine Hutchinson’s belief that “Technology is the Ultimate Equalizer.” The company's capabilities have been strengthened by upgraded 3D modeling software, best-in-class production equipment, advanced engineering tools, and the team’s expertise in building custom machinery, including a CNC router constructed from scratch. Hutchinson credits the Baltimore MBDA Advanced Manufacturing Center for helping Fabpro to secure vital funding for these investments in cutting-edge equipment and software.

One of the company’s primary objectives is also to stay connected and give back to the community. Year-round paid internships are offered to local university students in the engineering, IT and supply chain fields, helping them satisfy essential course-relevant work and gain valuable hands-on experience. Additionally, underserved populations such as previously incarcerated individuals have been given opportunities to learn practical skills in operating shop equipment and contributing meaningfully to production. During the pandemic, Fabpro contacted county officials to become an official vaccination station for employees and the local community.

Fabpro’s inclusive hiring practices have set a new standard in the precision manufacturing industry, normalizing the presence of minorities and women who have historically been underrepresented in this field. The company takes pride in its diverse team of engineers, machinists, welders, fabricators and management staff, fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes innovation, safety, and productivity.

Under Hutchinson’s leadership, Fabpro continues to lead the precision metal manufacturing industry in both diversity and excellence. “Our philosophy is simple: Excellence is a choice. You choose to be excellent. As a precision manufacturer and a minority-owned business, we have to be perfect every time. There are no excuses, just results,” says Hutchinson.
