“The Houston MBDA Business Center has been instrumental in helping South Post Oak Recycling Center gain local exposure and connect with stakeholders who may benefit from our services,” said Harleaux. “They are a valued resource in the community, and I always encourage business owners to take advantage of having these knowledgeable advisors at their disposal.”
The South Post Oak Recycling Center (SPORC) is a metal recycling center headquartered in Houston, Texas. Founded in 1994, the company’s primary focus is buying and recycling mixed metals such as copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and a variation of alloys from the public and private sectors. They also offer material drop-off and pick-up services to households, trade-based contractors, industrial corporations, construction and demolition companies, as well as government institutions across the United States.
“We have supported SPORC’s efforts to increase public awareness of their unique service offerings to attract and retain employees, as well as to transition a second generation into leadership of this family-owned business,” said Marshette Turner Ray, Director, Houston MBDA Business Center.
Each year SPORC supplies over 7,000 tons of recycled material to manufacturing companies across the globe. Materials that are then sorted, aggregated, and processed as secondary metals for downstream mills and foundries who melt and repurpose the metals for use in vehicles, soda cans, medical equipment, roads, bridges, and more.
MBDA congratulates Brandi Harleaux on her awards, and we wish her and her business continued success. To learn more, visit the Minority Business Development Agency website at MBDA.gov.
